Beatrix Rémond, Human Resources Manager at QINOMIC, talks about the Toumaï, by Lucie label: France's first committed and responsible community.
BEATRIX, WHY DID YOU START A CSR APPROACH AT QINOMIC?
From the very beginning, QINOMIC's desire was clear: to create meaning and be consistent with our mission, namely to accelerate the deployment of low-carbon solutions for vehicles, whether they be electric or hydrogen-powered.
Our initial intention was (and still is) to aim for sustainable growth and to contribute, in our small way, to solving the challenges of tomorrow.
HOW DOES YOUR ACTIVITY RESPOND TO ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES?
QINOMIC's ambition is to become a leader in sustainable and innovative mobility engineering and a major retrofit equipment manufacturer.
In short, retrofitting, which aims to convert thermal vehicles into electric (or hydrogen) ones, is an excellent alternative to the manufacture and purchase of a new electric vehicle. And it allows for a considerable reduction in greenhouse gasses.
We are therefore actors in the energy transition, and we have set ourselves the goal of being exemplary in terms of corporate social responsibility.
SO WHY DID YOU FEEL THE NEED TO OBTAIN THE CSR LABEL?
Despite the initial wishes of QINOMIC’s founders, everyday life is catching up to us. And we are aware that the line between a sincere desire for environmental commitment and greenwashing is quickly crossed...
So, we decided, with Frederic Strady, our CEO, to be accompanied in our reflection, to train ourselves, and to measure the impacts of our decisions and our activities on society and on the environment.
This is why we called on Lucie, the first French CSR label. After a few months of work on the subject, we obtained the Toumaï label, a testimony of our commitment to sustainable development.
HOW DO YOU INTEGRATE CSR INTO QINOMIC'S STRATEGY?
In addition to our main mission, which is to provide low-carbon solutions that are useful for the planet, we are working to reduce our own company's energy consumption on a daily basis: by using renewable energy sources, implementing waste recycling practices, limiting travel, etc. We also promote sustainable internal management.
We also value sustainable internal management, taking care of the QLW (Quality of Life at Work): we are committed to offering a healthy work environment to our employees, carrying values such as Clarity, Listening, Promotion of Innovation, Benevolence, Trust.
WHAT WILL BE YOUR GREATEST CHALLENGES?
Our biggest challenge will undoubtedly be sourcing. We work in the industry and need certain parts for our powertrains that are manufactured on the other side of the world, without local alternatives, ... sometimes with social and environmental criteria that are difficult to trace.
In spite of this, we are making sure that our teams are aware of these social issues, and that as many people as possible are on board with our commitment to responsible sourcing. We are currently considering interesting leads in the social and solidarity economy sector, and if they prove to be adapted to our technological specificities and are economically viable - because this is obviously a crucial point - we will naturally give priority to these solutions. But we are aware that this remains anecdotal and that we will have to continue to be innovative for sustainable alternatives.
The motivation is there, as is Lucie's support. And fortunately, because we are aware that we are only at the beginning of our CSR adventure.
